WHAT WE BELIEVE

Jesus is the Senior Pastor:

He is the Ultimate Leader.

He is the foundation of the Church (1 Corinthians 3:11);

He is the builder of the Church (Matthew 16:18);

He is the redeemer of the Church (1 Peter 1:17-21);

He is the head of the Church (Colossians 1:18);

He is the chief shepherd of the Church (1 Peter 5:1-4; John 10:1-30); and

He is the one who loves the Church as His very own bride (Ephesians 5:25-32).

We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God: God-breathed and authoritative

(2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20 21)

We believe there is one God, in three: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

(Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Jude 20-21)

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

He willingly died for the sins of the world, and defeated death once

and for all as He rose from the grave three days later

 (John 3:16; Colossians 1:19; Hebrews 10:1-18)

We believe that salvation comes by grace through faith

(Ephesians 2:8)

We believe that the Church is the universal body of believers, united in Christ with Jesus as the head

 (Acts 2; Romans 12:3-5; 1 Corinthians 12:12-26)

OUR VALUES

LOVE

We LOVE because we know that Jesus LOVES everyone – even sinners like us because we are made in His image. God doesn't create junk. God makes masterpieces. No scripture is more important to us than this: “LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: “LOVE your neighbor as yourself.” There is no commandment greater than these.”

 (Mark 12:30-31)

GROW

We are called to GROW in our spiritual journey with Jesus. This does not mean to just simply acquire more and more head knowledge, but instead to mature in faith by encountering God through prayer, through reading His word, through experiencing community, through overcoming obstacles, and through choosing to GROW in the midst of trials.

SERVE

We are called to SERVE: to give out of the generosity of our hearts and to busy our hands and feet in helping, assisting, working, and providing for one another. Faith without deeds is dead (James 2:26). Our faith is shaped, molded, and is displayed clearly through our acts of SERVING.

COMMUNITY

Romans 12:4-5 states that "just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ's body. We are many parts of one body and we all belong to each other".

Community is an important part of Journey's values. We believe we are called to encourage and create opportunities for our church to be in community with one another.
